Forpet Dog Food: A Humanized Packaging Design for Every Dog

Combining Warmth, Expertise, and Unconditional Care

Forpet dog food, a beloved brand in China and beyond, has unveiled a new packaging design that embodies their commitment to caring for every dog. Designed by Jian Sun, the Forpet packaging strikes a balance between warmth and expertise, making it a versatile and visually appealing product.

The unique feature of the Forpet packaging lies in its humanized design. The packaging showcases a series of five hand-drawn watercolor illustrations of dogs, depicting them as a loving dog family. These vivid illustrations not only capture the spirit of each dog but also emphasize Forpet's dedication to caring for every dog, no matter their breed or background.

The watercolor illustrations, combined with different flavors of dog food packaging, create a colorful story that engages pet owners. Each illustration portrays warm and friendly dog faces, exuding a sense of spirituality and individuality. This design encourages people to discover the multiple characters of dogs and emphasizes the importance of a healthy life for our furry friends.

The realization of the Forpet packaging involves a combination of materials and printing techniques. The bags are made with aluminum foil on the inside and polypropylene plastic on the outside. The intaglio four-color printing and bronzing process add a touch of elegance to the design, further enhancing its visual appeal.

Measuring at 184mm in length, 130mm in width, and 10mm in height, the Forpet packaging is designed to be both practical and eye-catching.

The warmth, friendliness, and humanity of the watercolor illustrations are complemented by the distinctive hand-painted lettering, which adds a cordial element to the packaging. This design allows Forpet to connect with a wide range of pet owners, adjusting flexibly to different audiences and preferences.

The Forpet packaging design was conceptualized and realized in May 2019 in Beijing, China. It was inspired by Forpet's commitment to providing unconditional care for all dogs, and it has received positive feedback from customers, particularly during the Tmall.com 11.11 Shopping Festival.

Despite its success, the Forpet packaging design faced its fair share of challenges. The opaque nature of the packaging and its high cost required the use of outside-mounted polypropylene plastic. Additionally, the thermal expansion and shrinkage of plastic made it unsuitable for high humidity areas or external packaging.

Overall, the Forpet dog food packaging design stands out for its unique and humanized approach. It captures the essence of Forpet's commitment to caring for every dog, while also appealing to pet owners with its warm and friendly illustrations. This design has earned recognition in the form of the Bronze A' Packaging Design Award in 2020, showcasing its outstanding creativity and contribution to improving the quality of life for both dogs and their owners.
